Taking Part in Kids Clothes Week

I've signed up to the Kids Clothes Week Challenge over on the Elsie Marley Blog, there are over 200 of us signed up. The Challenge is to spend 1 hour a night, for a week, making clothes for our kids. A great incentive to get on and do some sewing for the family I thought....or at least finish some of the many projects I've started!
So to be prepared I've been looking up some patterns for INTERESTING boy clothes and found Ottobre Magazine, a Finnish Magazine with over 40 patterns each month, specialising in baby and childrens fashion and there look to be some great patterns. After a very long time looking (it was hard to choose) I finally ordered some back issues and really look forward to them arriving in the mail.
I'll post up what I manage to make / finish / start but be sure to check out the Flickr Group to see what therest of the challenge participants manage to create.

Boy Stuff

No posting in months and now two in two days....I'm doing good eh?

I bet you didn't expect another post so soon, I didn't think I'd post so soon again either but as the Mam of now 2 boys, I am constantly surrounded by sewing patterns for lovely girly dresses and tops and skirts ands other cute filly accessories and frustratingly few patterns for boys ( or very few I'd ever want to make for them anyway) and it seems I'm not alone.

Made and Made by Rae blog are hosting a special Celebrate The Boy Month with daily patterns and ideas for boys stuff...hurrah, how exciting. I especially like 90minute T-shirt Pattern on Made today and modelled by such a cute little boy too, I am definately going to make this one, sometime when I have a spare hour or so......

Exciting Parcels

The other day I received a lovely parcel in the mail, I'd signed up to take part in the melly and me Fabric swap and was paired with a lovely lady in Australia who sent me all of this fabric (and lots more that didn't fit in the photo!):

It was great to get all these fabrics from so far away and they are very different from the fabrics I have collected myself so very inspirational, I am really looking forward to having the time to sit down and make a start on a patchwork blanket using all these lovely scraps.

All this is really well timed because a day later my new sewing machine was delivered. It took a while to decide on what model to buy but I settled for the Brother ES 2400 because my previous sewing machine and knitting mahine are both brothers and have served me well.

So now I have no excuse not to get on and be creative!
