Successful Christmas Craft Fair

I had a stall at our local Arts and Craft Association Craft fair this weekend. Its the biggest Craft Fair here in Shetland, and happens annually in November when the main hall of our Local Leisure Centre is transformed into a room filled with crafters and their fantastic products. I was sharing a stand (as always) with my partner and his photography, and we had another successful year. Its a great place to showcase new work and my Festive prints seemed to go down well with customers which I was really pleased about.

The main challenge for the weekend was not to spend all my earnings on goodies from other makers stalls! I managed to stop at only buying two things, some lovely red felt Christmas tree decorations from Donna Smith Designs and a gorgeous sheepskin rug from Shetland Sheepskins ( sorry they don't seem to have a website so I can't link to them). The decorations are packed away safely awaiting tree delivery in December and the rug is now pride of place on the living room floor where our older son has decided it is a snowy mountain for his duplo diggers to excavate.......

News...

Once again its been a long time between posts, I've been busy with the shop, which is going well I'm pleased to say, and we spent the last week of June at the Flavour of Shetland Event on Victoria Pier, a great event this year, especially with the lovely hot weather.
I've managed to get meterage of cotton satin (upholstery weight fabric) in both the Croft House print and the Fair Isle Jumper print available for sale in the North Rock Gallery Shop and soon to be in the Etsy shop which has been sadly neglected over the past few weeks.
I'm looking forward to seeing what people make with the fabric I've sold so far and I'm aiming to make a blind for the new nursery in the next few weeks.....thats some more news I've not shared on the blog yet. Baby no2 is due to make an appearance at the end of August.
I'm desperately trying to build up stock now as I know there will be no time for sewing in the months after baby arrives, but its been hard to sit indoors when the sun has been shining and we've had a bit of a heatwave ( in Shetland terms), however the weather is back to normal again so back to the workshop for me...

A good month for Publicity!

One of my Linen Fair Isle Jumper print Cushions is featured in this months Homes and Interiors Scotland Magazine, alongside some other very lovely items. This is turning out to be a good month for publicity for me!

Thanks everyone for your nice comments on my last post, this is all very exciting for me!

Tiny shoes for tiny toes

Above are some new products I have been working on over the past days and I'm quite pleased how they turned out, there is a lot of cutting and sewing in these little shoes, see photo below:

But worth it, I think, although I'm not sure I'll be saying that after I've had to make dozens of them........ This pair are headed for the etsy shop.
Thanks to everyone who has signed up for the button swap, I think we have 14 participants at the moment, theres one week left to sign up so I hope there will be a few more sign ups. Those of you who have signed up if you haven't already e-mailed (e-mail addy is in the 'important but serious bit' in the side bar of the blog) with your name and address can you do that sometime before the 25th January so I can tell your swap partner where to send your parcel.
I hope some of you tired the fimo buttons in the tutorials in the last post, I'll be back with some more button making tutorials soon.

At Phatsheep we are still busy completing orders, but with the last postal days for Christmas delivery fast approaching orders will start to slow up, its great to be busy but I am looking forward to the Christmas break:)

PhatSheep goes to France...

I have been very lucky to be invited to take part in a fantastic Christmas Market in Paris in late November. I have been chosen along with 2 other Shetland based textile designers to travel to Paris and take part in the Melting Shopping Christmas Market in the Goutte D'or Neighourhood of Paris, the market runs from 21st to 23rd November. Click here to visit the markets website and see a rather windswept picture of me! and here for the translated version.

Not only is it a great opportunity for me to sell PhatSheep textiles directly to Parisians but hopefully I'll have some time to explore the city, but lots of sewing to be done in the next few weeks to prepare............

If you live nearby please come to the market and say hello:)
Also, thanks for the positive feedback on the new website, really appreciated
